Water for Living,
Water for Life by Dr. Warwick D. Raymont, Ph.D., D.Sc.
Water comprises four fifths of our bodies and covers two thirds of the surface of planet Earth. Over two thirds of the photosynthetic conversion of carbon dioxide to oxygen occurs in the water bodies or our planet. Without water, life could not exist.
Yet, despite the huge increases in technology and health knowledge, this essential fluid is one of the most neglected. For the last couple of centuries, the oceans have been the dumping grounds for sewerage, garbage, chemical wastes and even radioactive wastes. Most agricultural chemicals find their way into the oceans. There is still over a thousand tonnes of active DDT tied up in the Antarctic Ice Shelf! Small wonder that water-borne photosynthesis has been so decimated!
A healthy human being should drink at least a litre of clean water each day – more in warmer weather or if detoxifying! And yet, over half the population is estimated to have a nil water intake! Water is substituted with soft drinks, beer, wine, coffee, tea, fruit juices – not that some of these are not quite healthy – and most of the other half drink water contaminated with chlorine, fluoride, pesticides, heavy metals, trihalomethanes and even such organisms as Giardia and Cryptosporidium! Such contaminated water can be of little or no use in cleansing the body of its own accumulated toxins!
The accumulated toxins in the bodies of virtually all the life forms on this planet – especially those at the tops of food chains (such as we human beings) – not only slow down bodily function, but impede seriously the body’s innate ability to care for itself and combat disease and environmental factors (toxins, allergens etc.). The result? Food allergies, asthma, diabetes, chronic fatigue, cancer, hormone imbalance, coronary artery disease – the list is endless!
Free radicals produced by many toxins can even attack the DNA structure of a cell, while the heavy metal cadmium has long been implicated in cholesterol deposits in coronary arteries.
Pesticides such as DDT are now known to be oestrogen mimickers, inducing hormonal imbalance and all its ramifications in both genders!
However, the news is not all bleak. Toxins, free radicals and even heavy metals such as cadmium can now be scavenged from the body by antioxidant therapy. Antioxidants occur in nature but, in a normal diet, not in sufficient quantities to combat the additional toxins to which all mankind is now exposed. Antioxidant supplementation has been shown to give countless health benefits.
Water is the key ingredient to successful detoxification by antioxidant therapy. Daily intake of clean water, free from chlorine, pesticides etc. is vital. During detoxification and free radical scavenging, most health professionals recommend two litres of clean water per day. Even a healthy person should consume at least a litre of clean water a day – more in warmer weather or at times of physical exertion.
The key word here is clean and we are continually asked how one can obtain clean water. Our answer is not from the tap, and in most cases, not from rainwater. Even bottled water cannot be guaranteed!
Stolairuses and recommends the Waterways or Puratap two-stage filtration system as the essential pre-treatment in the production of the ideal drinking water. It is mounted under the kitchen sink and is provided with a separate tap mounted on the sink top. It comprises a sediment filter followed by an activated carbon filter with a membrane. Larger particulate matter is separated by the first stage while the second stage is truly sub-micron, collecting anything greater than 0.4 microns in size. In addition, the activated carbon removes virtually all of the chlorine, pesticides and most heavy metal contamination. Indeed, this filter has been found to remove over 99.9% of Cryptosporidium and Giardia protozoa and is even certified to comply to AS/NZS 4348:1995.
The added advantage over “absolute” systems such as high temperature distillation and reverse osmosis is that nutritionally valuable minerals are left in solution.
Such a water purifying system is a must in any household, but, if you are really considering good health and detoxification, the subsequent treatment by a further system is essential.
The ideal water will use this filtered water as the source of water to be treated as simple tap water will decimate the life of the components in the final system. This ideal water will:
1. Increase the pH of the water into the alkaline range.
2. Balance the calcium and magnesuium in the water.
3. Hydrogenate the water to increase dramatically its antioxidant properties.
4. Reduce the size of the water molecule clusters.
5. Energise the water.
The end-effect of such treament is that the water will now emulate the pristine waters from the high alps in Tibet and Switzerland and the healing waters from Lourdes.
