Take care of your eyes
Dr Ron Nielsen
An interesting article has been published recently in the Journal of Clinical Investigations (vol. 114, pp. 765-774), which has a connection with the OxiChel®. The authors of the publication report on their study of the use of stem cells to prevent the development of retinitis pigmentosa.
Retinitis pigmentosa is a genetic disease that affects one person in around 4,000. It starts with a gradual night blindness, which is followed by a tunnel vision, and eventually by the loss of central vision. Its cure is elusive because an estimated 30 are contributing to its development. The general mechanism is a gradual vascular degeneration combined with the degeneration of neurons (rods and cones) located in the retina of the eye.
The researchers from the Department of Cell Biology of The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, and the Department of Ophthalmology of the Jules Stein Institute, UCLA School of Medicine, Los Angeles used stem cells extracted from the bone marrow of adult mice and injected them into the eyes of newborn mice with the relevant genetic disorders. They have found that mice with injected stem cells maintained their vision while their siblings, which were not treated, soon became blind.
The mechanism of prevention is not yet understood but the most probable mechanism is associated with a good blood circulation. It is proposed that haematopoietic stem cells (stem cells extracted from the bone marrow) make the blood vessels in the retina healthy. In turn, good blood circulation and good supply of nutrients keep the retinal neurons (rods and cones) in good shape. The observed effect is so dramatic and so promising that the researchers are expecting to apply this method to humans in only about one year from now.
And here is the connection with the OxiChel®. This product is loaded with oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs), which are known as the most powerful antioxidants. OPCs are documented to have a restoring effect on blood vessels, including the peripheral, tiny blood vessels, known as arterioles, venules, and capillaries.
Your body tissues need a good supply of nutrients and an efficient way of removing waste products. Healthy blood vessels keep your body healthy, and because OxiChel® keeps your blood vessels healthy it also helps you to feel well. OxiChel® is loaded not only with OPCs but also with other building blocks in the form of essential vitamins and minerals. OxiChel® can help you to take good care of your eyes.
